Opry

I may have lost my mind to let my husband talk me into taking these children to a “concert” last night. But it happened. Gabe had free tickets to the ‘Grand Ole Opry‘ last night (something that is not uncommon if you live here) and tried for two days to convince me to go. Here’s how the conversations would go:

Gabe: “Do you want to go to the Opry? It’s free?”

Mandy: “Who’s playing?”

Gabe: “Kevin Costner”

Mandy: “Why does Kevin Costner get to play the Opry?…and No”.

Gabe: “But it’s free, and it’s Kevin Costner

Mandy: “Still not worth it”

Eventually he wore me down,( much like how we started dating). How? you ask.

By the second day

Gabe: “We need to get out more”

Mandy (already wearing down): “What time does it start?”

Gabe: “7-9:30”

Mandy: “Who else is playing?”

Gabe: “Oak Ridge Boys and Charlie Daniels”

Mandy: “Woah, Woah, Woah, you never said anything about Elvira or Devil went Down to Georgia?!…Ok, I guess we can always leave if the kids can’t handle it.”

And so we went. No Oak Ridge Boys, but it was worth it for a couple of things.

Little Jimmy Dickens, some guy in the audience brought his own spoons to play along with the show, randomly Jerry Lewis showed up, Charlie Daniels, and last and certainly not least some guy in the audience shouted “Shumanitutonka ob Wachi” during the Costner portion of the program.

We can tell the kids they got to experience such wonders one day. Plus, we got a pretty good pic out of it even though I still question my judgement of bringing a 5 week old out to said events.

Love the photo!!!! We’ve always taken our kids to whatever we were doing. Sometimes we got some weird looks but they are great travelers, pretty flexible and also enjoy sticking their fingers up their noses!
